| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Q1: Will the product prices or maintenance fees change due to the license system migration? | A1: No, there will be no changes to product prices or maintenance fees resulting from this license system migration. |
| Q2: Are there any additional costs associated with the migration to CodeMeter (e.g., migration fees, costs for new hardware keys, etc.)? | A2: For customers with an active maintenance contract, no additional costs will be incurred for the migration. |
| Q3: Can the PC (server) currently used as a FlexNet license server be used for CodeMeter as well? | A3: Yes. If your current server PC functions as a FlexNet license server, you can continue to use it without purchasing new hardware. |
| Q4: What are the required OS and hardware specifications for setting up a CodeMeter license server? | A4: Supported OS: Windows Server 2019/2022/2025, Windows 11, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8/9, etc. CPU/Memory (Recommended): 1GHz CPU or faster, 1GB RAM or more, 300MB or more hard drive space |
| Q5: Are there any necessary changes to network settings? (Specifically firewall port settings, etc.) | A5: Yes, changes are required. CodeMeter uses TCP port 22350 for license authentication. Please configure your firewall or other security settings to allow communication through this port between the license server and client PCs. |
| Q6: Does CodeMeter support virtual environments (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.) or cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc.)? | A6: Yes, it is supported. You can build and use the CodeMeter license server on virtual or cloud environment servers. |
| Q7: Can CodeMeter be used in offline environments? | A7: Yes, it can. You can activate the license by generating an authentication file on a PC with an internet connection and then applying it to the PC in the offline environment. |
| Q8: Can FlexNet and CodeMeter coexist on a single server? (Is parallel operation possible during the migration period?) | A8: Yes, it is possible. You can run both FlexNet and CodeMeter license servers simultaneously on the same server, allowing you to use both old and new versions of the tools in parallel (as a transition measure during the migration period). |
| Q9: How long does the migration process take? Will there be any tool downtime? | A9: While it depends on your environment, the installation of the license server software and the authentication process itself typically take less than an hour. With prior planning, it is possible to perform the migration without any downtime for the tools. |
| Q10: Are any changes required for client PC settings (environment variables, etc.)? | A10: Yes, changes will be necessary. In FlexNet, the server was specified via an environment variable (GAIOTEC_LICENSE_FILE), whereas in CodeMeter, the server's IP address is specified via a web-based tool. |
