MPU Specific Issues

005_01: I cannot select an I/O port as an Input/Output variable for my test. I am using the Renesas Electronics (formerly NEC Electronics) cross-compiler. How do I fix it?

Question:

The function I want to test accesses an I/O port, but I cannot find it in the Unit Test CSV Settings window. How can I add the I/O port to the Test CSV file? I am using the Renesas Electronics (formerly NEC Electronics) cross-compiler.

Answer:

The definitions for the MPU's I/O ports and registers are contained in a proprietary device file, instead of a header file (*.h), for formerly NEC Electronics MPUs (V850 series and 78K0 series) with the PM+ and CubeSuite development environments. Therefore, the compiled object filed does not contain information for the I/O ports and registers.

As a result these items cannot be selected in CoverageMaster for testing. In order to overcome this, the information must be entered into CoverageMaster's "Defined Symbols" list.

In practice, given the large number of ports and registers in common MPUs, registering all of them manually would be very cumbersome. Thus as a service to our users, GAIO support staff can convert your device file into a "Defined Symbol List" file for you. Send an support request to GAIO User Support with the device file attached and we will send you the generated defined symbol list file.

After receiving your defined symbol list file, from the "Unit Test CSV Settings" window, "Defined Symbols" tab, "Import" the defined symbols from the file.

Note
This service is only provided for former NEC Electronics MPUs with I/O ports defined in device files. We do not provide services for generating defined symbol list files from header (*.h, *.inc) files or source (*.c) files for other MPUs.
